On October 7, 2014, exactly 10 years to the day that Alien: Isolation was released, developer Creative Assembly finally ended a full decade's worth of speculation by confirming that a sequel was indeed in early development.

Considering that Alien: Isolation 2 was announced in a tweet and didn't even get the now-expected glossy cinematic trailer reveal, we can deduce that it was in an incredibly embryonic stage of development in late 2024.

Even though there's no official release window as of yet, with the pace of current AAA development being what it is, it seems highly unlikely that Alien: Isolation 2 will end up in stores before 2028, and it could absolutely take much longer than that.

Creative Assembly's reveal statement said that they'd share more details "when we're ready," and almost 18 months later we've not heard anything else.

Hopefully it's a good sign that the team is busy figuring out a sequel that lives up to the original's gut-wrenching brilliance.
