20 Basic Video Game Skills That Are Secretly Broken
3. Singularity - Mass Effect 2
Anyone who’s played Mass Effect 2 as a bionic adept knows that one of the most powerful abilities is Singularity. However, those who have never played the game or are just getting into it will probably wonder why that is the case, since early on, the ability seems pretty useless.
Singularity is a bionic skill that allows you to lift enemies up into the air, temporarily disarming them and leaving them vulnerable to attacks. At early levels the skill's effect is very basic, if not downright gimmicky, as due to its low range and duration, it’s barely capable of holding one enemy up for a few seconds.
However, the more you invest into singularity, the more broken its abilities become. Because each upgrade increases the radius and duration of Singularity, at later levels you’ll be able to drag entire squads of enemies out of their cover and hold them in the air for long enough to turn them into minced meat (or junk, if you happen to be fighting Geth soldiers).
End-level Singularity completely breaks combat and turns even the toughest encounters into silly shenanigans with the game’s physics engine.
