20 Basic Video Game Skills That Are Secretly Broken

2. Sunny Day - Pokemon

Usually combat in Pokemon is all about getting the move with the strongest damage and using it against an opponent with the right type weakness.

One of the strongest moves in a game like this is the grass-type Solar Beam that causes huge amounts of damage even against Pokemon who aren’t vulnerable to grass moves.

It has one big downside, though—it takes a whole two turns to charge it up.

This is why smart players combine Solar Beam with Sunny Day.

Sunny Day is a move that most players scoff at, as it doesn’t deal any damage. It replace any weather conditions on the battlefield with sunlight that, unlike hail and sandstorms, doesn’t harm the combatants and instead it's primary use is to raise the power of fire type moves.

However, Sunny Day has a secret additional effect because it secretly boosts one the biggest damage dealers in the game.

When the battlefield becomes enshrouded in sunlight, Solar Beam loses its charge time and can instantly unleash its devastating attacks. This means that if you just waste one turn using Sunny Day, you will suddenly be able to spam Solar Beam to your heart’s content and watch as every Pokemon in your opponent’s party instantly faints to the concentrated power of the sun.
