20 Best Cutscenes In The Metal Gear Solid Franchise
1. Ocelot Steals Metal Gear Ray - MGS2
Revolver Ocelot is the greatest villain in the Metal Gear Solid series. He turns more coats than a dry cleaner and has a penchant for the camp, and that’s why he is a beloved figure in all video games.
Ocelot’s finest hour comes about at the close of Metal Gear Solid 2’s prologue. After the GRU commandeered the US Marines’ tanker, Shalashaska reveals he no longer aligns with the disgruntled Russian army. Instead, he admits to using them to steal Metal Gear Ray for his own ends.
This double-cross is legendary in its awkwardness and its quotability. Ocelot ends the Marine Commandant’s speech by commending him on his ‘silver tongue.’ Shortly after, the GRU colonel holds the Marine captive. From there, Ocelot makes his true intentions known and kills Colonel Gurlukovich before detonating C4 spread throughout the tanker.
Ocelot climbs aboard the amphibious Metal Gear Ray and swims away to commit more dirty deeds, while the Marines, and seemingly Solid Snake, perish.
This cutscene truly established Ocelot as a primary villain. Voicing Ocelot, Patric Zimmerman, not only stole Metal Gear Ray. He stole our hearts.
