20 Best NES Games Of All Time

6. Punch-Out!!

super mario bros 3
Nintendo

Punch-Out!! is great. It was originally released as Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! until the license with him expired and he lost a fight against Buster Douglas. Nintendo didn't want to pay for the likeness anymore now that he was no longer the heavyweight champion.

After the Mike Tyson license expired, Nintendo switched his final boss fight out for a fictional character called Mr. Dream.

Anyway, onto the actual gameplay. In Punch-Out!! you play as Little Mac as he fights against a bunch of different boxers in an effort to be the best.

These boxers are a variety of wacky characters each of which you will have to successfully block and dodge all that they have in store for you all whilst landing enough punches to successfully take them out.

The game is difficult yet immensely satisfying. Every boxer has their own traits to make them fun characters through visuals alone. You'll be staring at these visuals like a hawk, as you'll have to memorise character patterns and the animations that signal certain attacks if you want any chance of success.
