20 Best NES Games Of All Time
7. Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword Of Chaos
The only NES game that manages to make you feel like more of a ninja than the original Ninja Gaiden is its sequel, Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos. Yeah, Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom is also a great NES game in the series but it's just slightly less impressive than the first two.
The game implements new features to make you feel even more badass like the ability to create shadow clones when you collect an orange ninja icon. You can also climb walls in Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword Of Chaos which is something you can't do in the previous title. In the original, you could cling to walls, yes, but here you can move up and down them which really contributes to the ninja power fantasy.
It's also got another load of cheesy yet impressive cutscenes to enjoy as you progress through the game. Again, I know that the idea of proper cutscenes isn't impressive nowadays, but the NES Ninja Gaiden trilogy was made in a time where 90% of games just involved rescuing a princess.
