20 Best NES Games Of All Time
14. Final Fantasy
Out of the original NES Final Fantasy trilogy, it's easy to see that the original is clearly the best. The other two have got so many problems that it's unlikely that many will be mad that they're not on this list.
That's not to say that the original is some perfect game. Final Fantasy still has its issues and is nowhere near as interesting as later Final Fantasy titles. For example, the world of the original Final Fantasy is pretty generic all things considered and the characters aren't exactly interesting.
What puts Final Fantasy on this list is the fact that the game is one of the purest JRPG experiences ever. Instead of recruiting pre-established characters throughout your game, you'll get a four-person party at the beginning. These four characters are blank slates who you can name and select a class for.
Since the characters don't really have a personality it becomes this pure role-playing experience where you're filling in all of the many blanks that they have.
This is a textbook example of a JRPG and some people like it that way. Apparently not Europeans though as we didn't get this title until Final Fantasy Origins for the original PlayStation in 2001.
