20 Best Open-World Video Games Of All Time
4. Red Dead Redemption
At some point, maybe if we all join hands and pray in unison, Red Dead Redemption 2 will eventually release. Until then we've got this exemplary original, which is still so endlessly playable thanks to Rockstar taking their phenomenal GTA engine and applying it to a Wild West setting.
Gunplay was tightened up considerably from GTA IV, main man John Marston is one of the best protagonists in gaming, the 'crossing the border' moment always gets everyone talking, and the finale is one of the momentous and impactful I've ever seen.
Here's to Red Dead. We miss you and eagerly await your return.
