20 Best Open-World Video Games Of All Time
17. Assassin's Creed II
Ubisoft are totally capable of nailing a game right out the gate, but when given the opportunity to try something, gather a few thousand lines of feedback and then package it all together with a healthy dose of progression? That results in games like the immaculate Assassin's Creed II.
Many would say they never topped this - save for maybe, Black Flag - but no matter, because AC II expanded every possible facet of the original and then some. The story would actually play off the ridiculous nature of the dual-timeline setup (resulting in one of the finest cliffhangers of all time) and you were given twin blades for double kills, a ton more gadgets and even more excuses to deploy them.
AC 2 might just be the best Assassin's Creed of the bunch, but let me know in the comments if you'd swap it out.
