18. Invincible Sentinel - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!
Anyone who reckons they had more fun last year than playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! is either a liar or a German football fan living in Brazil. The game's unique graphic style, impossibly fun story and slightly skewed engine made it one of the most replayable FPS shooters of the age. Peak fun was to be had in the final and climactic boss fight though, where the game first pitted the player against a being known only as The Sentinel, before replacing it with a 100ft version to see what you made of that instead. The first incarnation was mean enough, throwing spells around and possessing comical quickness for a being seemingly made out of stone, but the Empyrean Sentinel was something else entirely. Rising out of the ground, setting winged minions on you, and basically just trying to squash you with the palms of its hands, it was the sort of nonsensical, crazy fun that made the whole game a success.
