14. Attack On Titan - God Of War II
Few games have the gall to open with a whopping great boss battle, but fewer still are as completely embracing of knocking their originals out the park than God of War II.
Putting you once again in the always-angry shoes of Kratos, we see the angry Spartan has been God for what feels like five minutes, before he's banished back to human form for abusing his power. A hulking statue of Rhodes is brought to life to deal with him, and it's here where the game's 'tutorial' quickly blends into a large-scale battle, Kratos plunging his twin-blades into the creature's innards for the win.
Few games can do scale in a way that's truly memorable (Shadow of the Colossus is another), but God of War had a control scheme that let you wield that scale to unprecedented effect.
