13. Gravity Circuit

Nothing less than the most essential platformer this side of Super Mario Wonder, Gravity Circuit is a powerful, momentum-heavy brawler take on Mega Man game design, that feels utterly spectacular to play through.

A steady stream of unlocks, a fun evil future corporation storyline to thwart, a phenomenal soundtrack that I can't recommend enough, Gravity Circuit is destined to be overlooked by all but the most hardcore of 2D platforming fans.

And yet, from being able to grab and tornado-piledrive enemies, send them soaring across the map, uppercut them into each other or deliver a snappy roundhouse kick, there's so much here that feels incredibly immediate, in that tactile old-school gameplay way, that means you'll "get it", if you play for even a few seconds.
