20 Biggest Video Game Bombs Of 2025

4. Neptunia Riders Vs Dogoos

The most recent instalment in the Hyperdimension Neptunia brand launched in Japan in 2024 but didn't see a worldwide release until this year. Based on the naff reception, it's a mystery why Neptunia Riders vs Dogoos didn't remain a Japan-exclusive.

While riding a motorcycle, players must collect a certain amount of slime monsters called Dogoos to move onto the next stage.

And that... is the entire game. Although the concept would be amusing for a mini-game, having it serve as the entire premise for a full-priced title is outrageous.

What's worse is the botched mechanics make the simplest tasks intolerable. Drifting needs to be mastered to maximise how many Dogoos can be collected. Sadly, the manoeuvre is floaty and exasperated by the clunky controls. Combined with awkward camera angles and poor draw distance, it's a slog to perform basic moves on your vehicle.

Each level is incredibly brief and the whole campaign can be beaten in under three hours, with little variety or incentive to replay. Although the presentation is charming and the voice-acting is solid, it's not enough to save this travesty.

With that said, this Neptune instalment's critical score is nowhere as woeful as the player rating. Peaking at 14 concurrent players on Steam and boasting a current player count of zero (give or take), Riders vs Dogoos is an unmitigated disaster across the board.
