5. Ambulance Life: A Pandemic Simulator
It's been a rough year for new sims, as can be seen with The Precinct, Tales of the Shire, and now Ambulance Life.
In this self-proclaimed pandemic simulator, players need to rush to emergency scenes to diagnose patients, perform first aid using realistic medical tools, and transport the injured to the hospital. Missions are varied, since they deal with minor accidents, major catastrophes, and everything in-between.
Not only is this a great spin on the already cramped sim genre, this sort of game should be informative and practical, since it gives players a basic understanding of the medical process and training regime.
Of course, none of that matters if the game itself isn't up to standard. Driving is awkward, patient handling is unintuitive, and NPCs behave erratically. There are many tasks to perform, but little incentive to take part, due to the buggy gameplay. What should've been an atmospheric experience is sullied by the frequent frame-rate drops, clipping, and stuttering. This makes the high-stakes missions intense and frustrating, but not for the reasons the developers were hoping for.
And with Ambulance Life's player numbers going from bad to worse to double digits, there doesn't seem to be any way of saving it.
