15. Nintendo Switch 2 Camera

Even though the Switch 2 has been hugely successful, its launch had a few hiccups (and not just because of the cartridge price-hike). One of the first things revealed at the first Nintendo Direct for the new console was the Switch 2 Camera, suggesting it would be a prominent feature.

However, the gadget is a basic webcam with no advanced features, like background blur or low-light performance, making image quality washed out or pixelated. Given the camera's modest specs and narrow usage, the $54.99 launch price is unjustifiable, considering there are webcams that deliver better performance for lower cost.

Furthermore, the poor design undermines the gizmo's utility. Rather than having a built-in front‑facing camera, Nintendo decided to make it a docked peripheral, which is terribly awkward. And apart from a handful of niche titles, most Switch 2 games ignore the camera entirely.

Though Nintendo probably expected big things from the Switch 2 camera, it's easy to forget it ever existed, based on the sales numbers. It turned out so badly, it's a wonder why Nintendo had such faith in the superfluous add-on in the first place.
