20 Biggest Video Game BOMBS That Deserved Better
3. Mad Max (2015)
If you were around on the gaming block ten years ago, you might remember that in 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road ended up with a video game adaption. What you have more trouble remembering is that the game was surprisingly good for a movie-based title, and that’s because no one really played it.
Although most people would be (rightfully) skeptical about the quality of game adaptions, the 2015 Mad Max is uncharacteristically well made. The title came out during the peak of open world games’ popularity and actually features an engaging and quite expansive map for you to explore, which is a lot of fun thanks to its polished driving mechanics that do its motorized apocalypse setting justice.
Unfortunately, being an adaptation, at the time of its release, most players weren’t willing to give it a shot, worried about potentially wasting their money on a lazy cashgrab capitalizing on the movie’s release.
It also didn’t help that the studio behind the game, Avalanche, experienced several hiccups during the production and was unnecessarily rushed by Warner Bros. who wanted to publish the game as close to the movie’s premiere as possible, which lead to more people becoming suspicious of its quality.
It might be too little too late, but rest assured, the game deserves a second chance.
