Much like Dark Souls after it, Demon's Souls is a fiendishly difficult game that's overflowing with controller-breaking boss fights, with the likes of Old King Allant and Flamelurker being some of this title's major hurdles.

One boss that's nowhere near as demanding is Maiden Astraea.

Found within the Valley of Defilement, Astraea is one of the five Archdemons that players are tasked with defeating. To get to her, though, players must first get past her loyal companion and bodyguard, Garl Vinland. Equipped with an enormous hammer and fought upon a narrow pathway, Vinland can make short work of players if they aren't careful. Once he's defeated, players are then free to challenge Astraea for what they believe to be the real fight.

However, this battle is over before it even begins. Talking to Astraea reveals that she's been overcome with so much grief at losing her friend that she decides to relinquish her soul, handing players victory without them needing to raise their weapon.

It's possible to make this fight even more straightforward. If players take the time to chip away at Astraea's health by shooting her from afar, they can kill her without ever having to fight Vinland.
