Whether it's werewolves, leshens, or wraiths, there's no shortage of nightmarish monsters for Geralt of Rivia to fight in The Witcher 3. However, none were as dangerous as Dettlaff van der Eretein from The Blood And Wine expansion.

The higher vampire responsible for bringing terror to the sun-soaked lands of Toussaint, Dettlaff has left a trail of death in his wake. Although he's committed horrendous acts, the narrative reveals that the situation is far more morally ambiguous. If players decide that Dettlaff should pay for his actions, they'll be faced with one of this game's most brutal fights.

With Dettlaff possessing powerful attacks that require precise timing to evade, players can quickly meet their ends during this encounter, especially when he assumes his full vampiric form. Mercifully, slaying Dettlaff becomes simpler once the battle enters its final phase.

All players have to do now is destroy three hearts scattered across the arena while avoiding a wraith-like projection of the boss. Once done, the real Dettlaff emerges, wounded and barely able to stand, allowing players to deliver the decisive blow and finish the fight.

While frightfully difficult, this was an exhilarating and wonderfully satisfying conclusion to Geralt's story.
