The original PlayStation release of Final Fantasy VII remains one of the most beloved entries in the JRPG series to date. After spending dozens of hours levelling up Cloud and his companions while becoming immersed within the enthralling narrative, the time finally comes to face the main villain Sephiroth one final time.

The encounter spans multiple phases, each as difficult as the last. With enough preparation, though, players will eventually be able to beat the antagonist in his Safer Sephiroth form in what appears to be the fight's last stage. However, the battle isn't over yet.

What follows is a one-on-one duel between Sephiroth and Cloud. While this looks to be another intense phase, this is actually a scripted sequence that's impossible to lose. With the game instantly filling Cloud's Limit Gauge, players can execute the hero's Omnislash ability, which will eliminate the villain in a single hit.

However, even if players decide to do nothing at this point and instead wait for Sephiroth to attack first, Cloud will automatically counter him, instantly winning the fight. Moreover, Sephiroth's attack only ever hits for a percentage of Cloud's current health, meaning that it's impossible for players to die here.
