20 Disappointing Video Games That Didn't Fulfil Their Potential
1. Concord
I have never, in all of my life, seen a story quite like Concord. I still can’t really believe it all happened the way it did. For those of you who have somehow missed this story, in 2023, Sony acquired the developer, Firewalk Studios, which then went on to release their very first game in 2024, Concord. Then, two weeks later, Sony took the game offline and delisted it from their storefront. Two months after that, Sony closed down Firewalk Studios.
The part that I’ll never quite understand is that Concord wasn’t awful. Yes, it was another hero shooter in an overcrowded room, but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. It didn’t feature an inordinate amount of bugs, the gameplay was fun enough, and it had a promising future. There was enough there where you could see a future for the game. It just needed more of everything, more maps, more characters, customisations and modes. Which would’ve come down the line.
It’s even more baffling when you see the money that Sony pumped into this project. From an episode in the Amazon Prime show, Secret Level (after the game was taken offline by the way), to a promise of constant content being added, with new story cutscenes releasing every week. The reported budget for Concord was $400 million. And to give up completely after only two weeks will never make sense to me.
