5. Samus Gets A Sidekick - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Considering the last Metroid Prime title was way back in 2007, it was assumed the developers would bend over backwards not to mess up the follow-up. The fact Nintendo started Metroid Prime 4: Beyond from scratch in mid-development emphasises just how high their standards were for the project.

That's why it was disappointing to see the bounty-hunting heroine, Samus Aran, teaming up with bespectacled engineer, Myles MacKenzie, on her latest adventure.

Since its inception, Metroid has been known for focusing on atmosphere and subtle tension. Samus rarely speaks or interacts with other characters, heightening the isolation further. (Metroid: The Other M already proved why that's a bad idea.)

As such, Samus is the last person who should be accompanied by a sidekick, especially one as annoying as Myles. Whether it's his Forspoken-standard dialogue or the Marvel-esque humour, it's obvious this guy shouldn't be here. Even if his lines and performance were spot-on, this type of comic relief has no place in the Metroid universe.

Although you're supposed to care about Myles, you're praying one of the many ugly monsters will devour him, slowly and painfully.
