Cyberpunk 2077 delivers a rich and engaging story, but with this said, it is also a mostly linear experience. It’s almost impossible to not finish every mission in the game if you just explore enough of Night City, although there is one pretty big exception.

Owning Phantom Liberty is only half of what it takes to play it. The other half is making sure that you don't forget to do the one thing that enables you to start the expansion's main storyline.

The plot of Phantom Liberty is triggered by the mission “Dog Eat Dog,” in which a mysterious netrunner called Songbird contacts V, asking them to help her rescue the President of the New United States from a crashing plane.

The call is obviously urgent, but following video game logic, you might assume that the plane falling out of Night City’s sky will magically suspend itself in air until you get to dealing with it.

Well, think again, because if you ignore the mission for too long, eventually President Myers’ plane will crash, instantly failing the mission and preventing you from experiencing Phantom Liberty’s content, along with all of its unique rewards, for the rest of the game.
