19. Can't Play As Pets - The Sims 4
The Sims 4 has cut plenty of things that appeared in the previous entries to the series, including stuff that used to be part of the base game and is now locked behind pricy DLCs.
However, if there’s one thing worse than selling previously available features separately, it’s selling them with frustrating restrictions.
And this is exactly the case with the Pets expansion pack.
Pets have been a part of the Sims ever since the first game, with your family’s furry companions only getting more advanced over the course of the series. The Sims 2 gave players a bigger variety of pets, while the Sims 3 finally allowed you to control your animals' actions.
Well, the Sims 4 took that ability when it released its own Pets expansion. Here, pets are once again passive creatures that just sort of exist on your lot.
The restriction is likely due to the fact that unlike the Sims 3, the Sims 4 is not an open-world game (another huge point of controversy within the Sims fanbase). Still, paying the full price for a watered-down version of a feature from its prequel feels like a scam.
