11. Swapping Bullet With Helmet (Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective)

Ghost Trick Phantom Detective
Capcom

One of the newest and most obscure titles on this list, Capcom’s 2010 puzzle adventurer Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was written, directed, and designed by Ace Attorney mastermind – and Phoenix Wright voice actor – Shu Takumi.

It follows an amnesiac ghost named Sissel who – over the course of a single night – sets out to remember his identity and understand his demise by interacting with zany characters, solving mysteries, and reversing deaths. Unsurprisingly, time travel and telekinesis play a part, and along the way, Sissel also gets the ability to swap certain objects as he sees fit.

That brings us to the 15th chapter of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, which takes place around 3:00 AM and puts Sissel in the precarious position of toying with time to save Inspector Cabanela from being killed by a gunshot. Ideally, Sissel achieves this by replacing the fatal bullet with a knitted hat.

Simple enough, right?

Well, Sissel also has the option to swap the bullet with something much heavier and harder: a helmet. If that’s the choice he makes, said helmet with crash into Cabanela’s face and Sissel will have to give it another go.

Mercifully, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective doesn’t show Cabanela’s pulverized head beneath the golden headgear, as that’s an image almost no one would want to see.
