4. Dead Island
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVzRo39P31I This zombie-based survival game is set on a tropical island, of all places. Whether you're into George A. Romero's slow, shambling zombies, or the super fast ones found in Danny Boyle's
28 Days Later, this game has something for everyone - it even has the self-aware zombies who plead with you to kill them. Mostly melee weapon based (that's knives, shards and even paddle boat oars) you have to use whatever is at your disposal to survive the zombie outbreak and fight your way through the bloody hoards of the undead.
3. Postal (Series)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LwQDF-iBN0 There aren't too many games that let you electrocute an NPC, douse them in petrol, set them alight, take a piss on them, watch as their badly burnt body crawls across the floor, before knocking their head off with a shovel and kicking it down the street. And there's a good reason for that, it's deprived. Fortunately, it's Halloween, so doing this sort of thing is acceptable, right? Uhm, sort of. It has been banned outright in New Zealand; possession, distribution or even buying it for personal use is widely illegal and is a criminal offense, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $275,000. Our tip? Don't buy it in New Zealand.
2. Manhunt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lOE3La_jH0 So gory and over-the-top that it got banned in New Zealand, Germany, Australia and even in the United Kingdom, for a short while. Manhunt has three "levels" of executions, ranging from moderate, severe to over the top fatalities. The game encourages players to "execute" their enemies in the most brutal way possible, whether it is by stabbing them with a broken bottle or suffocating them with a plastic carrier bag. Delightful.
