20 Greatest Sci-Fi Video Games Of All-Time

11. Unreal Tournament 2004

Online gaming is now hugely popular but it€™s a fairly recent development in the whole timeline of video gaming, particularly on consoles. One of the earlier shooters to really put an emphasis on online play was the Unreal Tournament series. It would be a crime not to feature an Unreal Tournament game on this list just in virtue of the incredibly long list of devastating sci-fi weapons included at the disposal of the tournament€™s combatants. Ranging from the Pulse Gun to the AVRiL anti-armour weapon, Epic€™s series of games are worth playing just for the imaginative ways of slaughtering your opponents. In our opinion, Unreal Tournament 2004 is the best of the series. For a start, it was the first in the series to include several sci-fi vehicles which were inordinately fun to play with and which added a whole new strategic element to be considered. It also introduced the Onslaught game mode which meant we could now play in large-scale battles and offered up a vast array of game modes including Last Man Standing, Capture The Flag and Deathmatch. While it is mainly remembered as being a fantastic multiplayer title, Unreal Tournament 2004 also features a large single player campaign for you to enjoy. With its incredibly fast paced gameplay and competitive online modes, Epic's game is certainly worthy of its place on the list.
