20 Greatest Video Game Heroes Of 2012

13. Agent 47 (Hitman: Absolution)

Agent 47 is probably the coolest character on this list: everything from the suit to his silverballer pistols just exude cool, and he's the definition of a professional and just looking at him makes you aware that things are about to go down. But the coolest part? He's almost never seen unless he wants to be, and he's not above putting on any number of disguises to get where he needs to go. Everything about Agent 47 just feels right. He's somehow become even more of a badass in the past couple years since he's been gone, taking cues from both Batman's detective mode and John Marston's dead eye targeting to mix together a cocktail instinct mode which is just plain cool.

12. Death (Darksiders II)

Here's one that normally gets tagged on the other side of the law, so to speak. Death is the complete package in the new Darksiders game, coming off much better than War did in the last one. Death is noble, funny and is willing to help out the people he meets with their quests even though he's in the middle of his own. Where War came off kind of standoffish, Death is actually charming. It's a tad ironic that he's out to save his brother in arms and in doing so, we end up caring so much more about him than we ever did War. For a start Death has got better moves and better weapons, plus he can wear all sorts of different armors. His raven guide is a neat way to lead you to objectives, and even his horse is better. Darksiders II was a big step up from the last game and I think we all want THQ to pull out intact, if only so we can have the next Darksiders.
