Year: 2005 Platform: Microsoft Windows, Xbox Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is probably most commonly remembered as the game that ended up bankrupting Headfirst Productions. With one of the most tumultuous, lengthy and problematic development cycles ever, it's a miracle that Dark Corners of the Earth turned out as good as it did. In development for six years, Dark Corners of the Earth most closely resembles a survival horror game, although it also features stealth and first-person shooter mechanics. Perhaps the chaotic development aided the game in some respects, because Dark Corners of the Earth captures the horror and confusion of the Cthulhu mythos perfectly. The lack of a HUD, atmospheric lighting and compelling story all made for a deeply immersive experience, and the best of any game based on the works of H. P. Lovecraft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfQ-Xqt-d0A
