20 Hilarious Video Game Mechanics You Didn't Know Existed

11. Rubik's Cube Solved - Going Under

Going Under is a 2020 roguelike where you do the classic dungeon crawler stuff, but with a corporate twist, searching for artifacts from failed startup companies inside a giant dungeon built underneath the headquarters of your character’s corporation.

You know, the usual intern stuff.

There is a variety of different weapons in the game that you can use to fend off the dungeon’s residents, including everyday junk items that get destroyed when you bash them against the monsters. One of these office knickknacks is a Rubik’s cube, and although it can be easy to ignore, there is a hidden little detail to it that makes it fun to interact with.

If instead of throwing the cube at the monster, you toss it around on the floor, the Rubik’s cube can actually change the placement of its walls, effectively solving itself. The detail is tiny, but it can still surprise you and get a chuckle out of you, given that the cube is the only item in the game that changes like this when thrown around.

It could’ve been another static object, so it’s pretty great the developers decided to invest some time into giving it a little bit of flair.
