12. Please Stop Scoring - Madden NFL 10

Madden games are for NFL fans what EA’s FIFA is for football fans. The franchise has been simulating American football for years now, and while some players may consider its quality to be on a steady decline, even these fans can still appreciate the clever design of the older games, like Madden NFL 10.

Even (or perhaps especially) if that cleverness is spent on nonsensical easter eggs.

In Madden NFL 10, the technical score limit is 255. While normal matches usually don’t see the scores exceed double-digit points, if the player is fast and skilled enough, they can actually achieve the top score before the time runs out.

However, something interesting will happen way before they reach the score cap.

If you go beyond 100 points in a single game, a message will appear on the screen telling you to ‘STOP SCORING’ because you are going to break the game.

The devs obviously put the 255 score cap to prevent any actual game-breaking moment, but the fact that they still decided to put in a warning message like this to mess with the player is what makes it so hilarious.

It’s their way of acknowledging that your skill would’ve definitely broken the system if they hadn’t put a failsafe beforehand.
