A World War 2-era Marvel game starring Captain America and that generation's Black Panther, fans had every reason to be excited when Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was properly revealed back in March 2024. With Amy Hennig at the helm as creative director, developer Skydance New Media seemingly has all the ingredients for success with this one.

The trailers have showed off an intriguing premise, with Cap and Black Panther shown to be on an initial collision course rather than immediate allies. The game takes place in Paris as the duo are also joined by Howling commando Gabriel Jones and Wakandan spy Nanali, with the common goal of fighting Hydra. Marvel fans were excited when an initial 2025 release window was given. However, in May 2025 this was pushed to 'Early 2026', so Skydance could give the game more polish.

Before 2025 had finished, however, the game was pushed back even further, with no new release window announced. Then, in June 2026, Paramount Games executive Shawn Kittelsen confirmed the game was still in active development and was actually playable, but wouldn't arrive until 2027 at the earliest. At least it's definitely still coming, though.
