20 Major Video Games You Forgot Were Happening

Mass Effect 5 was first properly teased way back in December 2020 during The Game Awards. The cinematic trailer shown a distant planet, a crashed spaceship, and an N7 helmet, with the vague promise that 'Mass Effect will continue'. Amazingly though, almost 6 years after that announcement, we don't seem to be much further forward in terms of what we know about the project.

In November 2022, developer Bioware confirmed pre-production was 'proceeding very well', but that was about it. In January 2025, the developer confirmed the core team working on the game were veterans from the original trilogy, with another small update later that year confirming the team was focusing exclusively on the project.

In April of this year, it was again reaffirmed, this time by executive producer Michael Gamble in a post on X, that the team were 'just busy workin' on the game, cryptically adding 'not a lot of time for tease'. That's it though. For now, at least, there've been no new trailers, gameplay footage, release windows, or even an actual title for the project.
