Believe it or not, there was a time when Electronic Arts seemed to publish nothing but the highest quality of games and in Robocod they had a platformer that could stand against anything else that the era had to offer.

Following on from the fairly average original, Robocod gave James Pond a robotic suit that offered so many more possibilities for the game, allowing him to stretch his body as high as he wanted or to execute a devastating "butt-bump" attack on his enemies.

Couple that with some of the best platforming action to be found on any console and background music that would worm its way into your eardrums and never let go and you have a true classic.

Better yet, it wasn't a Megadrive exclusive, so you can find it on a host of other consoles as well.
