7. There's A $100,000 Trading Card
Collectible card games are pretty expensive on their own, and the Pokémon TCG is no exception. One card in particular is considered one of the rarest ever to be printed in any card game, so there's no wonder it's expensive.
That would be the Pokémon Illustrator card. It was awarded to the winners of the Pokémon Card Game Illustration Contest, the first of which was held in 1997, and only printed in Japanese.
Just 39 of these cards have been printed - and one was recently offered on eBay for $100,000. Even though nobody bought it for that price, genuine offers of around $50,000 were made to the owner. Just imagine what you could buy for that amount of money.
And the best part? Pokémon Illustrator doesn't even do anything in the actual game.
