While the nasties who inhabit Dark Souls regularly are hard enough to deal with, if you're in human form, there's a strong chance you'll have to deal with being invaded by another player.

You'll see the text on the screen: "Invaded by Dark Spirit XXXXX" and thus begins a tense few minutes of cat and mouse, where you wander around trying to either find or avoid this player.

Then you spot them, and they spot you too. You're standing there with your broken straight sword and a rubbish shield, and this person stalks towards you wearing Havel's armour with a massive Moonlight Greatsword, already spamming spells to buff their abilities.

It looks like you honestly don't have a chance. Then, somehow, you find yourself dodging at the right times, maybe getting in a cheeky backstab or two, or the invader completely miscalculates and launches themselves off a cliff.

Despite your rubbish stats, terrible weapons and inexperience, you've thwarted this dastardly invader and sent them packing whence they came, tail between their legs.

This may be even more satisfying than beating a boss, simply because the other person was controlled by a player just like you.
