20 More Things Only Dark Souls Fans Will Understand

2. Gitting Gud

I'll let you in a little insight into my own Souls-like experiences here. In Sekiro, a boss took me over eighty tries to beat.

In Bloodborne, I've still never managed to beat the Orphan of Kos. Tried that one about fifty times too.

In Dark Souls, I lost to Queelag more times than I could count. I may or may not have caved on that one and summoned help.

Whichever boss it is, every Dark Souls player has had an experience just like this at some point. No matter what you do, no matter how hard you're trying, the boss is just repeatedly owning you, sending you packing to the bonfire before you can get any offence in.

It's so incredibly frustrating at times, but somehow, these bosses knocking you back time and time again forces you to dust yourself off, fight them again and again and finally, hopefully, kill them.

There's been multiple times throughout the series I've literally danced around my room shouting obscenities at a boss after beating. Sometimes with optional double middle-fingers stuck right up to the TV, just to rub salt into the wound.

There's nothing quite like the relief and joy you feel after putting down one of these awful creatures. It's at this point, finally, that you realise you GOT GUD.
