We said back in 2021 that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be one of the greats, and we stand by it.
Arguably the most anticipated indie game of the year, 2021's radio silence over Silksong has merely heightened anticipation for it. Every time Nintendo released a 'Nindie Direct' - their cutely-named video series that highlights upcoming indie games - the livetext quickly became bombarded with variants of the phrase "SILKSONG PLEASE!".
Team Cherry's silence throughout 2021 has been occasionally maddening, and could be seen as a sign that development has stalled. However, given the level of meticulous craftsmanship displayed in the first Hollow Knight, it's more likely that the developers have been working non-stop to craft a world that lives up to the lofty original.
Team Cherry have already created one masterpiece, and they deserve all the time they need to make another.
