Unexpectedly announced at The Game Awards last month, Elden Ring Nightreign is a co-operative Elden Ring spin-off in which up to three players can team up to fight their way through a procedurally generated version of Limgrave, while gearing up to battle a final boss.

Players are tasked with surviving for three in-game nights, while the map shrinks around them Battle Royale-style, pushing them towards their inevitable climactic clash.

It's certainly a bold experiment for FromSoftware, but given their track record of delivering wildly above and beyond high expectations, there's no reason to doubt them knocking it totally out of the park.

And while the game doesn't have a release date yet, fans can get their first hands-on with it in February, when FromSoftware runs a network test for select players.
