20 Most Embarrassing Video Game Moments Of The Decade
2. Ubisoft Is Forced To Give Away Free DLC And Games
One of the worst launches in recent video game memory goes to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Unity. It was absolutely broken upon release, even after a delay, and a 40 GB patch was eventually needed to resolve everything, which essentially just deleted and reinstalled the entire game.
In addition, a remark from a creative director at E3 stated that female characters would be too big an ask to create, causing even more backlash from fans. Ironically enough, the following Assassin's Creed, Syndicate, would feature a playable female as a main character.
Unfortunately for all the fans that bought the season pass early on, it was revealed that Ubisoft would be giving away the first major add-on for free, simply as an apology for all of Unity's launch issues. This did nothing but annoy those who had spent money investing in the future of the game itself.
So, in yet another form of damage control, Ubisoft issued a free game to anyone that had purchased the season pass. These games included Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag among a few others. In claiming your free game however, gamers had to gave up their right to sue Ubisoft in a class action lawsuit. Yes, really.
