20 Most Intense Video Game Moments Of The Decade
14. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Your First Divine Beast
It might be a little surprising to see Breath Of The Wild languishing outside of the top ten. It’s frequently labelled one of the greatest games of all time, never mind just this decade. When it comes to exploration, the game is almost unrivalled. It’s not necessarily the most intense game though, which is why it’s down here.
It can be difficult, certainly. After giving you the basics for the first hour or so, the game plonks you down in a huge map and just says ‘off you pop’. The approach didn’t work for everyone, but those who connected with it found an experience like no other in gaming.
If you fancy it, you can even rush and take on the final boss with just a stick and a pot lid, but you’re much better off spending the hours upon hours building up your hearts, stamina and arsenal. Doing so means encountering the four Divine Beasts, which can make for some intense moments.
The elephant is probably the easiest and most accessible, especially with Prince Sidon guiding you. Seeing one for the first time, having only really fought enemies around your size so far, can be a pretty intense sight.
