20 Most Overrated Pokémon In History

6. Gengar

Charizard Anime
The Pokémon Company

Since Generation One many players have been attracted to the menacing appeal of Ghost type Pokémon, and Gengar is certainly a popular one thanks to the early exposure it was given in the games and TV series.

But with so many generations adding great new Ghost types, Gengar just isn't the reliable force that it used to be any more. For a start, the dual typing with Poison is actually more of a hindrance than a help where type matches are concerned, and a pure Ghost type is definitely a stronger choice for this.

And since a lot of Ghost types share very even stats, it's easier to pick out the ones that excel. Drifblim, for example, offers much better HP and far more balance than Gengar does, while something like Mismagius can pick up virtually all of Gengar's signature moves and more.

It's time to get with the times, folks; Gengar is as outdated as the all-male Ghostbusters!
