20 Most Under-Appreciated Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
16. Halo Wars 2
The letters 'RTS' might be as far away from standard Halo gameplay as you can get, but when genre legends Creative Assembly are helping Halo's own 343 Industries develop, Halo Wars 2 is one hell of a package.
Actually taking place after Halo 5, this sequel creates one of the best and most memorable villains the franchise has ever seen - something not remotely expected in a genre based on top-down views, building up resources and playing the long game. Indeed, the brutal Atriox is just the tip of the iceberg - one that also contains some oppositional and team-based multiplayer modes, solid controls for a console RTS and some of the most in-depth tactical gameplay this decade.
Halo Wars might have been twice skewered by arriving at a time its main franchise is on the back foot - and the fact RTS games aren't in the spotlight like back when Command & Conquer was doing the rounds - but this is an exemplary offering from some incredibly talented studios.
