20 Most Under-Appreciated Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
15. Asura's Wrath
Platinum Games would first make action game history with the phenomenal Bayonetta, but one of their most OTT games (which really is saying something) comes in the form of Asura's Wrath.
Gameplay-wise it's a mix of third-person light attack/heavy attack/grapple combos, but where Asura's Wrath comes to life is through its quick-time events. Literally being an excuse to craft a series of increasingly ridiculous set-pieces, you'll play everything from fighting a boss the size of a sun, to seeing another character get stabbed with a sword so long, it comes out the side of a planet.
As you do.
Slightly outdated and overplayed now, Asura's Wrath has you button mashing to fling giants across the Earth, punch someone ten thousand times in a few seconds or just to power-up for a good 10 minutes, Dragon Ball Z-style. You simply need to see it in motion to believe.
Platinum Games clearly used their considerable profits to make something from the heart, and it's one of their absolute finest works to date.
