Speaking of timeless, 2016 is set to be the year we finally get hands on the playable version of Final Fantasy VII's high-budget remake. Released in episodes, the first is - in theory - set to drop in the fourth quarter, but don't hold your breath. Why's it so sought after though? Because Final Fantasy VII rewrote the book on how to 'do' an RPG. Before this we'd never seen such an expansive story with well written (at the time) characters all brought to life, and honestly, it was breathtaking. You could smell the smog in the Midgar slums, feel the sun as you made it to Costa del Sol and hear the coins rattle through the slot machines at the Golden Saucer. From games to films, books and more, the artforms that make the most impact on you growing up are always those that majestically take you away from the confines of the room you're sitting in, and in every single respect, Final Fantasy VII did that in leaps and bounds.
