The more you look into them as a studio and in terms of a work ethos, Naughty Dog really are one of the finest developers of our time. Where they once had Crash, the more mature Jak & Daxter sequels and then Uncharted's cinematically impressive trilogy, The Last of Us really was a 'coming of age' release. Although the gameplay itself is a solid blend of stealth and occasional action whenever you need to fend for yourself, it's Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley's script that really play your heartstrings like a symphony orchestra. The acting especially from both Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson as Joel and Ellie respectively is on another planet of awesome, the former especially delivering an unbelievably captivating performance right at the beginning of the game. These events set in motion a huge number of events that have since been talked about in acting schools and video game masterclasses all over the world. There's a reason TLoU won every award under the sun in 2013, and you owe it to yourself to check out what's being called "gaming's Citizen Kane moment".
