PS3-exclusive Demon's Souls might have kicked the Souls franchise off back in 2009, but it's Bloodborne that would advance its gameplay into a potent cocktail of exploration and RPG stat-grinding. Movement speed is increased no matter what you've got equipped - a subtle difference that means you can dart around the various ghastly enemies, delivering killing blows as you cut through scores of them - and the world itself leans more heavily on framing a story than any of the Souls titles ever did. Bloodborne is the only exclusive currently worth buying a PS4 for, and if you can withstand its unforgiving difficulty that'll have your expectations for breakfast, will also be one of the most rewarding.
