Skateboarding games were at the height of their popularity in the early 2000s. However, no skating game shone as brilliantly as Tony Hawk's Underground.

Underground took all the arcade skateboarding goodness from the Pro Skater series and combined it with an engaging narrative about a group of friends trying to make it big on the skating scene.

Players visited an assortment of locations throughout the game that ranged from New Jersey to Moscow. Each level was injected with developer Neversoft's wicked humour and meticulously designed to allow for crazy tricks and combos. Unlike other games in the series, Underground was the first that allowed players to get off their boards and explore levels on foot to reach different areas.

This title also featured an in-depth character creator that even enabled players to import scans of their own face and skateboard. This is all without even mentioning the game's legendary soundtrack.

Tony Hawk stated in an interview with Screen Rant that he would champion an Underground remake, though the decision isn't his to make. Although there is no official word that the project is in the pipeline, the success of the Pro Skater remakes suggests that a revamped Underground may appear in the near future.
