20 PS2 Games That Need A Modern Remake
8. God Hand (2006)
Helmed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and developed by Clover Studio, God Hand has earned a reputation for being one of the strangest and most brilliant games to have ever released on the PS2.
The game centres around Gene, a hotshot fighter who comes into possession of the eponymous appendage after losing his own arm. Bestowed with divine strength, he battles demons to stop them from resurrecting their king.
What follows is an over-the-top beat 'em up that sees the hero take out enemies in ridiculous slapstick fashion. With moves ranging from unleashing lightning-fast combos, deploying devastating groin shots, or kicking foes so hard that they're launched insane distances, this title embraces its irreverent humour to the fullest. Despite its bizarre comedy and ensemble of eccentric characters, God Hand is a fiendishly hard game that uses a dynamic difficulty level. The better players perform, the harder the enemies become, with the fourth and highest difficulty level being aptly named "DIE".
Despite being championed by fans, God Hand was a commercial failure that received scathing critic reviews upon release. Given its revered cult status, the fact that this game hasn't received a remake is criminal.
