20 PS2 Games That Need A Modern Remake
16. True Crime: Streets Of LA (2003)
Set within an impressive recreation of Los Angeles, True Crime: Streets Of LA is a high-octane action game that puts players in the shoes of LAPD detective Nicholas Kang. While investigating a series of bombings in Chinatown, he discovers the case may be connected to his father's disappearance.
Featuring a cast including Russell Wong, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, and Ron Perlman, this game contained high-speed car chases, hard-hitting martial arts combat, and blistering shootouts complete with dual-wielding and bullet time. It played like an old-school action movie, and it was just as fantastic as it sounds.
The plot was also driven by a morality system. Depending on whether Kang was played as "Good Cop" or "Bad Cop", the narrative would diverge at a certain point to send players down radically different narratives.
Following the lukewarm reception of sequel True Crime: New York City, the series would later evolve into cult gem Sleeping Dogs. Due to its poor sales, however, a follow-up never materialised, leaving this series in the past.
This franchise has been long overdue a revival. By reimagining Kang's gripping adventure with the slick gameplay of Sleeping Dogs, players could experience the definitive version of one of the era's greatest action games.
