Making his first appearance on the Atari 2600 in 1982, Pitfall Harry is regarded as one of gaming's first action heroes, paving the way for Lara Croft and Nathan Drake. Though the character is best known for Super Pitfall on the NES, there's one PS2 entry in this series that's become lesser known: Pitfall: The Lost Expedition.

Released in 2004, this game opens with a plane crash stranding the protagonist and other explorers somewhere in the Peruvian wilderness. What starts out as a mission to rescue his fellow adventurers soon takes a more fantastical turn as he fights to reclaim an ancient treasure.

The title was overflowing with vibrant personality and charm, most of which came from the endearing hero, to make for a genuinely funny outing. Apart from a 2008 re-release and an underwhelming 2012 mobile title, this was the last time players got their hands on a Pitfall game.

Playing like a 3D Metroidvania, The Lost Expedition's colourful world was one that was bursting with adventure. By expanding on its simple narrative and adding more areas to explore and treasures to find, a remake of this overlooked release would be the ideal way to bring the Pitfall series back.
